Paranormal Investigator

Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be a paranormal investigator. I used to love listening to ghost stories around the fire when I was young, and there seemed to be more to them than mere entertainment. I could not put my hand on it at the moment, but I couldn’t shake the belief that occult phenomena really occurred. I wanted to help people capture ghosts like in the Ghostbusters movie – my favorite movie when I was a kid.

My parents laughed at the idea, but they could not discourage me. When I had my first paranormal experience at the age of 12, it got me even more hooked. I saw a ghost when I was all alone in the house, and even recorded it speaking on the tape. Although to other people it is sounded like random sounds, no one could deny that it was a human voice. I did not have the money to hire paranormal investigators at the time, but I kept the tape for later analysis. I knew that the whole experience was too strange to simply let go of.

I was very disappointed when I found out that there was no such thing as formal paranormal investigator training. There are plenty of different places that will train you in ghost hunting skills, but since there is no board that certifies the training, it is difficult to tell where to get the best courses. I did what many other paranormal investigators to: I bought my own equipment and started working on my own terms.

At first, I joined a ghost hunters society. I had an electromagnetic field detector and some pretty sensitive recording equipment that I brought along with me, so they were pretty happy to have me join. I wasn’t the only amateur paranormal investigator there, but I quickly pulled away from the rest. To everyone else it was a hobby, but for me it was a passion. I seemed to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time to hear ghosts and see strange, creepy lights. I don’t know if it was luck or type of intuition, but whatever it was it impressed the others.

Soon, I started to get a few paranormal investigator gigs on my own. They were actually referrals from friends of people in the ghost hunting group. I did not make a lot of money, but it did help me establish my reputation. There are a few things that are harder to get respect for than working as a paranormal investigator. There are hundreds of paranormal investigation groups, but few of them get many gigs. The only way to really advance your career is to have some glowing reviews from people who use your services, and I soon had those aplenty. My career is really starting to take off.
