Predictions Of Nostradamus

Michel de Nostradamus was a remarkable man and he is still the subject of debate, hundreds of years after his death. The Frenchman was an apothecary and astrologer and lived from 1503 - 1566. It is the predictions of Nostradamus that has secured his place in history. He is said to have correctly predicted events even into the 21st century. Some people are more skeptical about his abilities but everyone is intrigued.

Because he wrote in code for much of the time, the predictions of Nostradamus are difficult to interpret sometimes and it is not always straightforward. There are many books and TV documentaries on this fascinating man and his work. Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies for the Future by Mario Reading concentrates on interpreting prophecies affecting the 21st century, including the attack on New York’s Twin Towers, the 2003 war in Iraq, the 2005 Asian tsunami, and the New Orleans flood.

The Complete Prophecies (Wordsworth Reference, edited by Ned Halley) is a collection of prophecies from 1600 onwards, including the French Revolution, and the rise to power of Hitler. Nostradamus 2003 - 2025: a History of the Future by Peter Loire is another look at our modern society today and how the prophecies of Nostradamus saw it. Subjects covered include Global Economics, the rise of China and the state of America.

Nostradamus: The Lost Manuscript: The Code that Unlocks the Secrets of the Master Prophet by Ottavio Cesare Ramotti is the work of an Italian author and Nostradamus expert who has decoded paintings by the prophet, found in the archives of the Italian National Library in 1994. These paintings had been neglected and forgotten and Ramotti found them to be of enormous value to his study. Prophecies discussed include the Nazi Blitzkrieg, the attempt to assassinate Pope John Paul II and the rise to power of Boris Yeltsin.

There is even a Nostradamus edition in the Dummies series of books! For an easy to understand overview of the Nostradamus prophecies, this is a fun read and it tells the life story of the prophet and discusses his beliefs, what influenced him, his use of cryptic writing and anagrams and the viewpoint of skeptics.

Fictionalized dramas have also depicted the life and times of the seer and are available on DVD and VHS. Nostradamus is a 1995 film with Tcheky Karyo in the title role and also starring F. Murray Abraham, Rutger Hauer and Amanda Plummer. The movie shows Nostradamus and his struggles with the Inquisition and his appointment as Court Physician to King Charles IX of France. Nostradamus from 2000 is set in modern times and involves time travel from the 15th century. It stars Rob Estes as ‘Michael Nostrand’. Joely Fisher, Fintan McKeown and David Millbern are in support.
